Hello
I have 20 years experience working in schools and have been a qualified teacher since 2006. I am currently fully booked evenings and weekends but have some daytime availability on a Monday and Wednesday at present.I am part way through studying for a Masters in Psychology.
I am a qualified primary school teacher (5-11) and have experience of working across all Primary year groups. I also hold a postgraduate certificate in Specialist Teaching for Literacy- Related Difficulties which was gained via Dyslexia Action and am qualified to deliver the Dyslexia Action Learning Programme. I have successfully delivered Level 1 Functional Skills English and Maths in a local secondary school.
I have had the opportunity to mark Maths and English comprehension 11 plus papers at a local grammar school. I have successfully tutored for the 11+ CSSE examination.
I have also worked with wide range of children including those for whom English is an additional language and those who have special educational needs. I worked as a learning support assistant whilst studying for my degree and so have a range of strategies to help children who may find school work challenging at times.
I will tutor children in bite size chunks across different strands of a subject, for example 20 minutes phonics and spelling, 20 minutes reading (decoding and comprehension - range of genres) and 20 minutes writing (composition and punctuation). I will encourage children throughout the session with positive praise and recognition of their achievements and effort.
