“Dave has guided me through four Registry Of Guitar Tutors Acoustic Guitar Exams which has included Initial stage, Preliminary Grade and Acoustic Guitar Grade 1 and Grade 2 all of which were past with Distinction. These grades were achieved by the time and patience Dave puts into my guitar lessons and the confidence he gives me ( currently he is helping me with Acoustic Guitar Grade 3. )”

“I would definitely recommend Dave to anyone, group, school etc who is looking for a guitar teacher, I have come on in leaps and bounds since Dave has been teaching me. I have grown in confidence the most So I would not hesitate to recommend Dave to anyone and would be pleased to talk to any prospective student.”
— Mandy
“Dave takes the time to find out what and how the children like to learn and adapts his lessons to meet their needs. If the children request to learn a certain piece or style of music Dave will happily oblige as he likes to keep the lessons relevant to them. Dave keeps the teaching sessions relaxed and happy which helps to keep the children focused and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend him to any future employer.”

I first started playing the guitar aged 6yrs old studying under Stephen Caswell (LLCM ) on Classical Guitar. He gave me the solid grounding and foundation going on to reach the highest levels on the Guitar achieving my Grade 8 in 6 months! Over the next 2 years I studied at Stoke College gaining a HND in Performing Arts (Music) and was trained by John Lambert (ARAM, LRAM). He enhanced my guitar technique and exposed me to many different styles including Flamenco, Jazz and Spanish guitar to Diploma level.
For the last 25 years I have gained experience in playing many different genres of music from solo Classical and Acoustic Guitar at Weddings and functions to playing Bass in Orchestras and partybands worldwide.
I have been teaching in primary schools across Cheshire with Music For Life as well as my own private students. They range from beginners up to Grade 8 standard. All lessons are individually tailored and I have a dedicated area on my website for students to download all the materials and plans they need.
I approach lessons in different ways depending on the student. I can teach pop, rock, acoustic, country, classical and folk styles and music theory on Classical, Acoustic or Bass Guitar. I can prepare students for exams with Rockschool Acoustic Guitar, London College of Music or ABRSM and I'm a qualified private teacher with DBS certificate. Some students prefer to learn in a more modern style so using music charts and developing their improvisation skills while other students would like to learn new techniques and classical style of playing using notation. I always ensure students choose the route they are most suited to pursuing.
Students learn Guitar to a very high level from ages 6 up to adult learners. My pupils have excellent technique which is something I expect from my pupils from a very young age. For the young person they learn all round music skills through a variety of games and activities which make each aspect of learning fast paced and fun whilst gaining each of the fundamental skills needed for playing the guitar. I have developed a style of teaching which can be adapted to the learner but I have extremely high expectations and encourage pupils to practice regularly and to achieve their full potential.
