I am a graduate, specialising in nutritional biochemistry with my Animal Science degree. I confidently teach biology, chemistry and physics at KS3 and GCSE, and also biology and chemistry to A level. I spend a lot of my free time reading and keeping my subject knowledge up to date through the latest science news, both in the press, and through academic scientists' blogs, and also through popular and academic science books. Science is a passion not just in my professional life, but also my personal life too!
My experience as a teacher means I can bring a wealth of learning resources to tutor sessions, and my reading around the subject means I can suggest many places for the tutee to extend and push their knowledge, which is especially useful for university applications.
I have been a secondary science teacher since 2012, and started tutoring the next academic year. I was rated Outstanding by Ofsted (when they still gave individual teacher assessments), and am an Expert Examiner for the AQA exam board.
All this experience has given me great insight to not only help with the subject knowledge, but also to ensure that that knowledge can be best presented to the examiner, so you can ensure you achieve your full potential in an exam.
I am an enthusiastic, energetic and friendly tutor. I tailor my tutoring individually, so I will always start by asking what the tutee is hoping to achieve, and which areas of science they are needing help with. Sessions are interactive - I encourage the tutee to achieve their best by encouraging them to think and test their knowledge through discussion.
