I am a fully qualified and active teacher. I obtained my PGCE at Kingston University, and undertook my practical training in SW London schools. My undergraduate BSc is from the London University. I teach all three sciences at GCSE, and Chemistry and Geology at A' level.
With over 5 years of experience in teaching online, I have developed interactive tools and presentations that immerse the student in the subject they are learning. Teaching and learning is my passion and I continue to develop my own subject knowledge through further reading and CPD.
I have 10 years teaching experience in mainstream schools. I have worked in mixed, all boys and all girls schools. I have worked in the state maintained and the independent sector schools. My most recent experience has been working part-time at an very well respected independent school and tutoring privately. Clients range from the local authorities, individuals, foster care management companies etc.
I support a range of students, including those with additional needs. For example I have successfully taught; blind, autistic, dyslexic and those with cognitive speech and language difficulties. I have a diverse range of experience that would qualify me to tutor students in most situations. As an enrichment coordinator, also a gifted and talented lead in the past, I am able to stretch and challenge the most able students. One of my students (now sitting his exams) is both autistic and gifted, which has been one of the most rewarding teaching experiences of my career to date.
Here is a list of subjects and their awarding bodies I can support you with:
GCSE Biology 1-9 (AQA, OCR & Cambridge IGCSE)
GCSE Chemistry 1-9 (AQA, OCR & Cambridge IGCSE)
GCSE Physics 1-9 (AQA, OCR & Cambridge IGCSE)
A' level Chemistry (AQA & OCR)
GCSE Geography (AQA, OCR, Edexcel & Cambridge IGCSE)
A' level Geography (AQA, OCR & Edexcel)
GCSE Geology (OCR & WJEC)
A' level Geology (OCR & WJEC)
GCSE Environmental Management (Cambridge IGCSE)
My approach is adaptive, but structured. I make use of the most up to date resources, focussing on the specification the student is studying. I have developed a comprehensive set of learning resources and materials I share with the student via online storage and file sharing (files are in pdf for compatibility). I also maintain a private Discord server for each subject I teach, so the student has 24/7 support. Feedback on progress is given at regular intervals, or upon request. I encourage the students to use personalised learning checklists (provided by myself) and self assessment to identify gaps in the student's knowledge.
