Hello! My name is Ning, and you can also call me Davella. I am a native speaker of both Cantonese and Mandarin. I did my Bachelor's degree in English teaching and Linguistics at the University of Auckland and my Master's degree in Business Psychology at The University of Manchester. Having lived China, New Zealand and the UK, I have a comprehensive understanding of the cultural differences between the East and the West. Being passionate about language study, I know the best way to master a new language and good approaches to improve language proficiency. In my free time, I enjoy Swing dancing, hiking, travelling, reading, jellycats and music. I am learning German so keen to exchange languages with you.
I have years of experience teaching people at all ages, both online and in-person.
For Mandarin beginners, I will teach a section of the Chinese phonetic alphabet, which is known as Pinyin in each lesson. Then I teach some useful dialogues, words or idioms. I like to tell you the origins of some characters, which enables you to understand the characters better and retain them better. What's more, I am confident about helping you with good handwriting. Last but not least, you will get recordings of what we have covered in each lesson, which makes it so much easier to improve your pronunciation!
