I'm retired, although I have continued to tutor maths and English. I spend time reading, keeping fit, gardening and being with the family.
I taught in 3 schools on a supply basis, but didn't particularly enjoy not being part of somewhere, so had a change of direction in my working life. I went back into teaching some years later via a refresher course, voluntary work in local schools, supply and then a permanent position in an infant school. I worked there for 13 years, finishing as Acting Head. Then I went to a middle school, finishing as a Head of Year. I worked there for 14 years.
I'm very empathetic, working at the pace of the pupils, over a wide range of ages and abilities. At the middle school, I worked with quite a few groups, who required more support, which I've continued with my tutoring. I've also worked with higher ability groups, whilst working at the middle school, over a range of subjects including both maths and English. I have tutored up to and including foundation level GCSE maths.
