I am an experienced music teacher based in Bristol, working regularly with young musicians to nurture their love of music and help them achieve their musical goals. This includes developing composition and performance skills, preparing for exams, and more. I am passionate about music and, alongside teaching, I also work as a choir leader, arranger, composer, and performer.
I served as a Head of Music at secondary level for over 10 years, gaining extensive experience in teaching performance, composition, and music theory/appraisal to students aged 11–18. I have supported countless young people in preparing for GCSE and A-level Music and Music Technology (across all major specifications), as well as graded instrumental exams. I am an expert in music pedagogy, having designed music curricula in collaboration with the local music hub—some of which are now used nationally—and have spoken at conferences on music education.
I have over eight years of experience tutoring both instrumental music (piano, guitar, and voice) and academic content including music theory, GCSE, and A-level preparation.
My lessons are always tailored to each student’s needs and musical interests. I aim to help students achieve their goals while maintaining a deep love of music, ensuring that lessons are engaging, practical, and inspiring. I provide expert, proven guidance to develop composition and performance skills that not only boost creativity but also align with exam assessment criteria. I also teach theory and listening skills in ways that connect directly to the student’s instrument and musical tastes, making learning both relevant and enjoyable. With experience across all major exam boards, I offer targeted, expert support for mastering content and preparing for even the most challenging listening exams.
