Hi there!
I'm Dan. I'm an experienced secondary school support educator, currently studying a Masters in Modern History at LSE. From 2020-2023 I studied History & Politics at the University of Cambridge, where I received a First. Through my studies I have researched British, European and international Modern and Early Modern history, as well as political science, political philosophy, and economic history.
Outside of my studies I am learning Spanish; my other interests include film and television, theatre, comedy, literature, politics, philosophy and cooking.#/k#
In 2024 I worked at a secondary school in West London, teaching small groups and supporting large classes in GCSEs in English Literature, English Language, History and Drama.
From October to February 2025 I switched to working at the school's Sixth Form, where I supported the UCAS advisor in preparing over one hundred students' applications for university; providing advice on university and subject choices, as well as personal statement guidance. I personally oversaw over eighty personal statements.
I also have experience working with younger years: after GCSE exams were completed in June, I worked with small groups of students in years 7 to 9 on English literature and language skills.
I would be more than happy to help with:
- English and History GCSE teaching and revision:
---> Exam preparation and technique
---> English literature tutoring; Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, poetry anthology, interpretation and context
---> English language tutoring; unseen texts, language techniques, argument & analysis, essay structure and writing
- GCSE and A Level History support
- University applications
