I live with my three dogs and a cat. I am a bookworm and enjoy spending time outdoors, particularly in the Welsh mountains and forests.
I am very patient and understanding and love working with my students, the sense of achievement when a topic is understood is better than anything I can imagine.
I mainly work with special educational needs students but also cover mainstream.
Everyone deserves a chance.
I have worked in education for 10 years now, 9 of those in an SEN college, I then started tutoring whilst I was off work with ill health and have been doing it ever since (approx 2 years now).
As part of my current work, I tutor gcse maths in a local SEN school.
I have put a number of students through their maths GCSE’s with good results all round.
I don’t teach conventionally like you find in an average classroom, a lesson should be fun and memorable.
I usually start out assessing a new student by working through a selection of mock papers together, this way of doing it helps me to understand a student’s strengths and weaknesses. Following that I can plan for future sessions and work to fill in the gaps and build confidence.
