Fully Qualified Mathematics Teacher | QTS | BSc (Hons) Maths | PGCE | 1-1 & Classroom Expert
Hi! I’m a fully qualified UK Maths teacher with QTS and a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics, along with a PGCE from the University of Sunderland. I bring several years of experience teaching both in the classroom and through personalised 1-to-1 tutoring, working with students of all abilities.
I have several years of experience as a qualified Mathematics teacher working across both classroom settings and 1-to-1 environments. I’ve taught at secondary schools in the UK, delivering the national curriculum to students from Key Stage 3 up to A-Level, and have worked with learners from a wide range of backgrounds and ability levels.
In the classroom, I’ve taught mixed-ability groups, including students with SEND and EAL needs, as well as high achievers preparing for top grades. My teaching has consistently been praised for its clarity, structure, and ability to build student confidence, even among those who initially struggled with the subject.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have extensive experience providing 1-to-1 and small group tuition, both in person and online. This has included:
GCSE and IGCSE students aiming to move from a grade 4 or 5 up to a 7+
KS3 students needing to build strong foundations and close gaps early
A-Level students working toward university entrance requirements
International students preparing for British qualifications from abroad
This experience has strengthened my ability to quickly assess each student’s strengths and weaknesses, tailor lessons accordingly, and deliver targeted support that leads to measurable improvement.
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve also delivered:
Exam intervention sessions
Booster workshops
Holiday revision classes
Tutoring for resit and foundation year university students
Having worked with students both in and outside the school system, I understand the pressures of exams, the barriers students face, and the strategies that truly make a difference.
“I teach not just to cover a syllabus, but to spark curiosity, clarity, and confidence in every learner. The best part of my job? Watching students exceed their own expectations.”
Adaptable Approach: I adjust my teaching style depending on each student's learning style, confidence level, and goals.
Real-World Connections: Where possible, I bring maths to life using real-world examples that help students better understand abstract concepts.
Questioning Strategy: I guide students through problems using thoughtful questions that develop their problem-solving skills and independence.
Personalised Relevance: I make an effort to connect maths topics to each student’s interests or career goals, making lessons more engaging and relevant.
Exam Smart: I introduce exam-style questions early and share efficient methods to help students stay calm and save time in real exam conditions.
Teach-Back Method: Occasionally, I ask students to “teach back” the concept — a powerful technique that reinforces their understanding and boosts communication skills.
