Highly skilled teacher and tutor.

I am currently working at an outstanding secondary school so I am up to date on all specifications and exams.
Especially skilled at teaching how to write good essays, be it coursework or in public exams. This is often undertaught at schools and can be a key reason why someone is struggling.
I also regularly tutor students who are neurodiverse and may need help with executive function and processing.

Tutoring Experience

Teacher of English for 18 years.
I have always worked at outstanding schools, including a 6th form where 25% of our students went on to Oxbridge and the rest to Russell Group.
I have taught OCR, EDEXCEL and AQA A level English Lit.
I have always taught AQA GCSE, often running interventions for both the high ability or those looking to move from a grade 4 to 5.
I have worked as an examiner at GCSE and A level. This means I have a deep understanding of the expectations and skills needed to do well in these exams.
I have also worked as a consultant running trainings for whole boroughs, schools and individual teachers to raise attainment in literacy.

Tutoring Approach

Calm and patient approach. Lessons are planned and focussed. I like the sessions be student led; this means allowing them to identify the skills and knowledge they'd like to focus on. I will also set an early writing task to see these in practice. I then use my experience and skill to create a programme of study designed to tackle their needs and help them reach (or even exceed) their target grades.
