Hi! I'm Claire McDonald, a certified music teacher with 16 years of experience and a passion for making music come alive. As a talented flautist trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, I've taught music in Scotland, Gran Canaria, and Barcelona, sharing my love for live music and creativity with students from diverse backgrounds. I also enjoy languages and have experience teaching English as a second language. I believe in making learning fun and inspiring, whether we're exploring the beauty of music or mastering a new language together. Let’s create something beautiful!
With over 16 years of experience teaching music from primary to secondary levels, I have had the pleasure of guiding students through a wide range of courses, including practical music (with flute as my principal study), piano, and even ukulele. I also teach music theory, composition, and listening analysis. I've coordinated and conducted numerous events, consistently achieving a 100% pass rate for my students. I have taught Nat 4, Nat, Higher and Advanced HIgher in Scotland, Cambridge IGCSE, A level and Edexcel GCSE. I spent 10 years working in Spain, I have extensive experience teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) students and speak both English and Spanish fluently. I am known as a creative, engaging, and successful teacher with a strong reputation for inspiring students to reach their full potential.
My approach to teaching is all about connecting with my students and creating a positive, engaging learning environment. I take the time to get to know my students and their interests, incorporating these into my lessons to make them fun, enjoyable, and interactive. I believe that every student learns differently, so I strive to understand their unique learning styles and tailor my teaching to meet their needs. I also love encouraging creativity in music, supporting my students to explore their own ideas and develop their individual musical voices. My goal is to inspire a lifelong love for music by making every lesson an exciting and meaningful experience.
