Claire is a PGCE and PhD qualified experienced teacher. Claire studied Biological Sciences at the University of Birmingham & in 1997 was awarded a first class honours degree. She completed her PhD in Cancer Research at UCL Medical School in 2001. Claire continued her career in Cancer Research at UCL publishing many scientific papers and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. She found the teaching aspect of her career extremely rewarding and so Claire decided to enter the teaching profession.
In 2005 Claire obtained her PGCE teaching qualification and since then has taught GCSE Science and A level biology in both independent and state secondary schools. Claire was Head of KS4 Science from 2007 in an outstanding secondary school in Surrey and in 2009 was promoted to Head of Biology in a school in mainland Spain, teaching GCSE and A level to Spanish students in English. In 2011, Claire returned to the UK to teach in an outstanding school in London and an independent school in Surrey. In addition to professional tutoring Claire was a sessional Science lecturer at an adult college. She also works as an examiner for OCR and Edexcel. Claire currently teaches in an outstanding school in London.
Claire believes that every student, with help and guidance, has the potential to succeed. She is able to explain concepts in a way that makes it simple for students to understand. Claire is patient and will answer all questions thoroughly. She also has high expectations of her students and will guide students on the best way to make use of their own study time.
