With five years of hands-on experience as a part-time primary school teacher, I am dedicated to inspiring young learners to develop a deep appreciation for both reading and writing. My passion for the English language, coupled with a drive to help students excel, motivated me to pursue a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and Publishing, further enhancing my skills in both areas. I am committed to guiding children in becoming not only strong writers but also confident readers, as both skills are foundational to academic success. By fostering a love for storytelling and critical thinking, I help students unlock the power of language, enabling them to express themselves clearly and effectively. I recognize that strong reading comprehension and writing abilities are essential for future success, and I take pride in tailoring my approach to meet each child’s individual needs, ensuring they develop the skills they need to thrive in school and in life.
Since 2020, I have been working as a primary school teacher, initially as a full-time Year 5 teacher for four years. Currently, I work part-time as a cover teacher, allowing me to pursue my MA in Creative Writing and Publishing. In this role, I teach across Years 4 to 6, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the KS2 curriculum and its preparation for SATs and secondary education. Over the years, I have honed my ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, and I find great fulfilment in seeing children thrive in their learning.
I provide a personalised, patient approach to teaching reading and writing. I understand that each child learns differently, so I tailor lessons to their interests and needs, fostering a love for language through engaging activities. My use of humour creates a fun, relaxed environment where students feel confident and motivated to improve. By building strong relationships and emphasising a growth mindset, I help students develop essential literacy skills while enjoying the learning process.
