I am a qualified teacher with over 5 years experience working in private prep schools in Surrey. I teach a range of subjects, but specialise in English and Maths, achieving outstanding results for my students whilst making learning engaging and fun. I have helped many pupils with their 11+ preparations, as well as helping children feel more confident both in and outside of school.

Tutoring Experience

3 years teaching at Caterham Prep School teaching Year 4 pupils.
3 years working at The Hawthorns School teaching predominantly Year 5, though I have a heavy focus on preparing children for 11+ assessments.

Tutoring Approach

When teaching Maths, I have a focus on the fundamentals and core skills. If pupils can use and understand these, they can apply them to a range of different problems. The use of things that students can touch and move to show how maths works also works.

When teaching English, I try to focus on building both vocabulary and writing structure to help pupils to build the skills they need to write engagingly. I am also keen to help children understand what it is they are reading, building upon their comprehension skills by looking at retrieval, inference and dedication style questions.
