I am an experienced maths teacher (now Head of Maths) who is passionate about helping students to succeed. I identify and fill the knowledge gaps that are preventing a student from making progress and break down complicated processes into small, easy-to-understand steps. My aim is that students leave my sessions feeling confident and positive about going to their maths lessons when back in school. I specialise in Year 11 teaching and I have an in depth knowledge of the topics most frequently tested and the style of questions asked. I use this knowledge to ensure that students not only know the content required, but are prepared to answer the worded questions with which they often struged.
I have been a maths teacher since 2017 and am now Head of Maths at a large secondary school with above-average national outcomes in maths.
My approach is to break down complicated processes into small, easy-to-understand steps and to get students to master each step before bringing them all together in one process. This granular approach allows me to identify and address any knowledge gaps that are holding students back, meaning they make progress quicker. As an experienced maths teacher, I can explain mathematical concepts in multiple ways and draw links between topics to deepen understanding.
