I specialise in English, although, I have a passion for Drama and Media Studies. This is shown through my degree, with every year concentrating on a different topic to accommodate my desire to teach: Drama, English Language and English Literature. I have developed my own knowledge further by completing a Masters in Education this year. I am a GCSE examiner and I have taught for over ten years.
I am a 36 year old mother of two children. I am approachable and find the key to success with my students is creating a good working relationship, based on mutual respect. When I was 17 I had Removed tutor, so I know what an impact the experience can have on a student's learning. I expect to go the extra mile and push my student's to their potential. I have several family members who have a Special Educational Need, which has made this area an interest of mine. I believe everyone is capable of getting a GCSE, no matter the difficulty, with the right support and determination.

Tutoring Experience

I am qualified to teach English for ages 5 to 18, although secondary is my specialism. Currently, I work full time in a local secondary school as a member of senior leadership teaching students from the ages of 11 to 16. I have experience in teaching English and Drama, and my qualification also holds speciality in Special Educational Needs. I am DBS checked. I am an exam marker.

Tutoring Approach

I am happy to cover any aspect the students feels they need help with, although I would always suggest contacting their teacher. This allows us to work on weaknesses but also concentrate on pending examinations or controlled assessments. I am very flexible so if an issue arises during sessions I can change my plans to suit the need.
I have had several tutees before and have always enjoyed the process. Building a relationship with students is always the key.
