I am a third year English student at Oxford University. I was the first from my school to be offered a place and I am dedicated to helping others achieve their ambitions just as I did, whatever they may be.
I have been tutoring on a freelance basis for four years and have taught students from 11+ to A-level. I also spent a month teaching English in China last summer which was a challenging endeavour but one that has taught me a lot about how to support a huge variety of students with very different needs.
In my experience, a cookie-cutter approach rarely works in tuition because every student is an individual with unique strengths and weaknesses. The whole reason you pay for one-on-one tuition is to ensure dedicated, personalised support. That’s what I offer as a tutor.
My first lesson is almost always diagnostic. I set some practise questions and chat to the student about what they are struggling with or believe is an area of weaker understanding. I then design my remaining lessons around the areas that I have pinpointed as requiring focus and improvement.
