I am a mum of two who loves to spend time with family and being outdoors being creative. I love to read in my spare time and make memories with my children.
I am currently teaching Year 2 having a purpose and the responsibility to plan and implement effective learning within a secure and encouraging learning environment in order to help students develop their potential. I communicate with parents on a regular basis including their praise and rewards as well as their child's well being. As well as positives, It is important to also communicate to parents with any concerns and challenges that occur with their child. I have the responsibility of booking school trips as well as organising workshops that link to the topics in that current term being taught by me. I am currently using schemes first 4 maths, white rose and read to write to help plan my lessons alongside following the national curriculum to ensure all children meet their expected age range before they move up. Read Write Ince is also another scheme that I have been teaching in small groups as well as whole classes for the past 6 years with regular training to keep up with consistent changes to ensure all lessons are taught to the best standard. Adapting to various curriculums and skills allows me to understand and gain experience of learning the new curriculum for Wales in order for me to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners within the school.
I have an understanding of how my class represents a variety of cultural backgrounds and how children have different learning styles and intellectual abilities when it comes to being patient and helping maintain a balance between my expectations and the student's abilities.
I have gained experience whilst working at GPA of attending residential yearly; allowing me to build relationships with children from various classes including previous classes that I have taught. I have covered and taught in a variety of classes in the past 6 years from reception to year 6. I am well organised when providing resources with children's work and having a well-organised classroom; books and technology in places where students can be provided with the opportunity for blended learning.
I am looking to work as a tutor for your company that is ambitious for its pupils, sets itself high standards and
looks innovatively at education. I passionately believe that celebrating children’s success and their individual talents is very motivating and self-affirming and allow children to recognise the contribution that they can make as part of a wider community. I recognise the importance that sound pastoral care and clear safeguarding procedures have in building the confidence and well-being of all members of the school community and subsequently in the attainment of the pupils. I would do this by encouraging a positive learning environment in which high standards are maintained, where pupils are provided with equal opportunities to develop into successful, confident and responsible individuals; supporting them to become valued members of their community.
I have had the opportunity to have experience managing and developing TAs whilst teaching which has allowed me to maximise and stretch the pupils that need the additional support and guidance on a day to day basis. With TA’s being important to support children that need additional support being LA, it is also important that TA’s help support all abilities to push and challenge HA children. Postural support is a vital part of children’s education now since covid; it is essential due to the emotions of the children.Working with SEN children, allows me to plan additional tasks that suit their needs; holding daily interventions and 1:1 in-class time to catch up and understand the learning outcome. Teaching SEN children daily, it allows me to see the difference in their needs; holding interventions and also nurturing sessions for children that need emotional support.
I have been recently dealing with children in my class who have disadvantaged backgrounds, therefore it is important to be aware of their needs. I hold nurturing sessions to enable children to feel comfortable in a smaller group setting where they are able to open up in a safe environment and discuss their feelings and emotions. I have found it is essential to be more aware of children from disadvantaged backgrounds whilst also keeping up to date with their home life too; checking hygiene etc and having good communication with their parents to be able to support them.
I always like to create a happy and challenging environment for the children that allows them to have fun. Being positive and having a caring attitude enables me to have excellent behaviour management; I use creative and innovative methods to inspire and motivate all children. I strive to find new ways of supporting my pupil’s learning styles, being mindful that my pupils will learn at a different pace and speed than their peers, because of this, I am highly adaptable and flexible with my lesson plans.
When delivering lessons, I ensure each lesson is tailored to their abilities; scaffolding in order for children to reach the learning outcome for each lesson. I use a wide range of creative, innovative teaching methods to motivate and inspire children daily.
I believe it is important to reflect upon the effectiveness of my teaching: a properly structured evaluation process must be included in the planning being used. With this in mind, I take care to formally evaluate on a weekly basis, placing emphasis on how I can move the children forward.
