Experienced tutor training as a translator. When I was doing GCSE Spanish in 2015, it was my least favourite subject. I went back to it while at university and now I am fluent! If I can do that, you can definitely pass your exams. I remember feeling like lessons at school weren't enough. That's because they probably weren't!
As an English native speaker, self taught in Spanish, I have gone through every step of the language learning process. That means I can put myself in your shoes. Also, I know how to make language learning easier and more efficient.
I have a year of online teaching experience, and I have worked in Spain teaching English.
Language learning is composed of comprehension (reading and listening) and production (writing and speaking). We will use a variety of exercises to help you improve in all of these categories. We can focus on topics that you may have fallen behind on in class, or those that need some consolidation. In my own experience, Spanish lessons at school moved too fast and it’s no surprise that many students fall behind and are unable to understand later topics.
Grammar can be intimidating, but I approach it in an intuitive, step-by-step way, making it much more manageable. Advanced grammar is underpinned by confidence in the core grammar, so we will work from the core grammar outwards. We will use your exam board’s GCSE Spanish vocabulary in our sessions.
Writing is one way to build confidence, but I encourage my students to start speaking from the very first session. A typical activity looks like this:
