I am a professional editor and writer with over 12 years of experience tutoring English literature and language up to A Level.
I have many tutored students across Birmingham and London. Many of my students have achieved A* and As in their GCSEs and A Levels and have gone on to top universities to study all subjects, from English to dentistry.
My love of all things writing has given me a fantastic career in publishing and writing, and I currently am a writer and editor for one of the top medical health publications - https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/authors/cecilia-effa.
I have 12 years of experience (since 2012) in tutoring English literature and language as subjects, alongside some periods of teaching English as a foreign language (including having a TEFL Cambridge Scholar Level 5).
I have a university degree from the University of Birmingham: English literature with creative writing (BA)
I have worked with students from top grammar schools such as King Edward’s and King Edward VI Camp Hill School up to GCSE level for English literature and language.
I have not only helped my students achieve top grades but have also inspired a love of reading, writing, comprehension and all kinds of literature.
I have worked and written for numerous publications in the UK and Central America, combining my love of creative writing with my love of travel. I now write and edit for one of the top medical health publications - https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/authors/cecilia-effa.
My approach to teaching is all about joy and passion; if a student enjoys the subject, the passion and determination to do well will come naturally and exponentially over time.
Simply put, I know how to make all things English fun and exciting. From words to analysis to novels and poems to grammar and spelling, I cover every part of the syllabus while instilling a love of reading and writing.
I take a structured but fun approach to teaching. I know that from experience, students must enjoy the lesson and enjoy the subject to do well. I am always aiming to build confidence and passion towards English, knowing that it will be integral to success in their exams as well as in later life.
I tailor my lessons to each student’s needs to maximise their full potential.
I know exactly what to do for students who say they don't like English; they just haven't found a book or novel that speaks to them yet!
