Private Maths and English Tutor in Stroud

I have been teaching in primary schools across the county for the last 20 years. I love learning and teaching, and consider it a privilege to work on a 1:1 or small group basis, seeing exactly how students are thinking and helping them to feel secure and confident in their subject. I strongly believe that boosting confidence is crucial in helping pupils to catch up or secure understanding, as well as helping learners to see things in different ways.
In my time off, I love spending time with family, ideally on the beach in Cornwall with a windswept dog or two!

Tutoring Experience

I have taught across the primary age range (5-11 years) for the past 20 years. My subject specialism is English, and I love teaching maths too. My many 1:1 tutees range in age from 7 to 13, and have all made great progress in their English and Maths lessons at school as a result of our sessions together.
Over the years, I have also taught English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to young children, teenagers and adults.

I always bring my ID, teaching certification and DBS documents to our first meeting.

Tutoring Approach

I am a passionate believer in the importance of confidence when it comes to learning, especially in maths. As such, my teaching approach prioritises this, alongside building positive relationships which I do quickly and easily. Having taught so many children over the years, I am very aware of differing learning styles, and tailor my teaching to this.
I teach children from Year 2 to Year 7, and would consider small group sessions at a reduced individual cost.
Availability from September or over the summer for mini blocks of sessions to keep skills ticking over or to look ahead to next year's learning.
