Carol

I am currently offering face to face and online tutoring.
I am an experienced maths and science teacher and have taught these subjects for over 20 years with excellent results.
I have also worked with a number of students who have had learning disabilities and adapted the lessons to suit their needs.
I also worked as a school counsellor in Australia for a number of years helping students with personal issues as well as career and subject choice.
I have good communication skills and am able to relate to students of all ages. I have a good understanding of the individual needs of students.
In my spare time I love to play tennis and also dabble in art.
I prefer to work from home as I have all my resources here but I can come to your house for the tutoring. However, if it is more than a few miles away then I think it is fair to ask an additional sum for petrol and travelling time

Tutoring Experience

Before the coronavirus outbreak I had been achieving excellent results with my tutees. One student was achieving an A standard in Biology GCSE and another student had been moved up a grade in year 8 Maths.
References can be provided.
I have taught maths and science in secondary schools for over 20 years.
I have also been involved with running individual tutoring sessions for many years with students/teenagers to help them improve their grades up in both maths and science.
I have worked at some of the local schools in Hampshire doing individual tutoring with children who needed extra support to improve their grades.

Tutoring Approach

I like to make learning as much fun as possible and use an interactive approach to tutoring with as much visual back up as possible as I believe children learn better this way.
I feel that it is important to check the individual needs of students and find out what learning style works best for them.
I like to form a warm relationship my students and get to know them on a personal level such as finding out what their interests are etc.
I try to relate the subject we are studying to real life as much as possible as this makes it more relevant to them.
