I'm a fully qualified (DBS registered) English teacher and currently working towards my PhD in Creative Writing.
I have a proven track record of helping students to achieve 8s and 9s in their GCSE English and have helped numerous students pass the 11 Plus exam.
I have a Masters (distinction) in Creative Writing. My degree is in English Language and Literature and I have been teaching since 2005.
Last year, I received a two-book publishing deal from Hachette and my debut novel will be published as one of their key titles in May 2024.
I've previously been placed in national and international writing competitions including Spread the Word Life Writing Prize, Bridport Short Story Award, Bridport First Novel Award, and the Brick Lane Bookshop Short Story Competition.
I've taught KS3 English language and literature in secondary schools, and worked as a private tutor for many years. I have a strong background in teaching English as a foreign language and over the past twenty years have taught in Madrid, London and Devon.
Sometimes, building confidence is just as important as teaching content. In the GCSE English exams, the student needs to be able to produce answers which are original, perceptive and well-ordered. In order to do this, they must have confidence in themselves and ability. I can give the student everything they need to score top marks in their English GCSE, and help to develop their motivation so that they can reach their full potential.
I also have tremendous success in helping students to pass the 11 Plus.
