Online Maths Tuition

I love tutoring. I have been doing it for the past 22 years (longer than any other previous job). I get a lovely sense of satisfaction when I manage to convey a method on a particular topic that works for the student. I am known for helping my tutees achieve their best, usually improving their exams results by a couple of grades. I live in Norfolk with my husband and two dogs. I have many hobbies including playing musical instruments, crafts and gardening.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring as my main occupation for 22 years. After graduating, I worked for a couple of years in the Stock market, developing mathematical algorithms to determine share prices; I then worked in IT for 15 years. However, in order to spend more time at home and pursue other interests, I changed career to become a tutor - first for English as a foreign language and then mathematics
I now have most of my timetable filled by tutees who have come to me by personal recommendation, but there is room for a few more, and this is why I have advertised my services with First Tutors.

[ I do not have experience of helping students with professionally assessed and recognised learning difficulties. If this is the case, please let me know this and the details of the condition when you request my services I would not usually be the best choice over an expert in the particular area.]

Tutoring Approach

I offer encouragement and support specifically to help the student achieve their best in Maths GCSE and 'A' level exams. I believe a light-hearted approach works best. My aim is to offer personalised strategies and techniques to help the student do their best in exams, whatever their level. While it is important to study well and practice much, I think it is also important to laugh and not be too stressed by the thought of the exams. I concentrate on topics that the tutee has found confusing in the classroom or has not done so well on in past tests. We also work through past papers where I can give tips on how to get those all important extra marks. I use worksheets, course books and diagrams to help in the process. I can set homework if requested.
I used to teach in person but during the Covid year, I was forced to go on-line and never looked back: I have a wealth of material I can access at the press of a button and can look back quickly over the tutorials and what I have previously done with the student (and don't need to worry about being late due to traffic!).
I work interactively, sharing an electronic whiteboard with the tutee.
