Choose me if the following things are what you are looking for in an effective tutor: a friendly, patient, caring, fun-loving person who takes pride in building and maintaining productive relationships with both parents and children; someone who has always thoroughly enjoyed the one-to-one nature of their tutoring role and has been able to watch many children become confident, motivated learners; someone who believes in setting high standards tailored to each child’s specific abilities and needs; someone who has the experience and expertise to provide a 'tool-box' of strategies to support children and help them become self-motivated learners…in summary, someone who is committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents! I also have 23 years of experience preparing children for entrance exams for their next schools. Having worked for many years at a private preparatory school in Chelsea, I have a good understanding of the process.
I have 33 years of teaching experience, 23 in the UK. I am now retired and exclusively tutoring as I enjoy working with children, helping them to move on and seeing them blossom!
I also am working with a number of children who are not native English speakers and have moved to the UK.
For 13 years I taught in a private Chelsea Preparatory School where I was also the English Coordinator.
I offer booster courses in creative writing during half terms and holidays. This gives children the tools to tackle creative writing more confidently. I have a good understanding of issues like Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD as well as EAL (English as an additional language).
My extensive tutoring experience includes helping children to fill learning gaps, gain more confidence and better results in specific subjects.
I have also helped many children to prepare for 7+, 8+, 10+ and 11+ exams and gain entry to their desired independent schools.
I help with home-schooling children and am prepared to negotiate a special rate for multiple hours.
I adopt a friendly approach to my sessions and try to make learning fun. I have a good sense of humour and teach each pupil in a style that suits their needs and personality. I offer encouragement and praise every achievement.
It is so important to teach children to celebrate their successes, no matter how small as we all need to feel good about ourselves in order to make progress or achieve in life!
I enjoy teaching children that they can work smarter in order to achieve their goals and help them to become confident and self-motivated learners.
I have an excellent variety of up-to-date resources that cover the curriculum and entrance exams.
