My name is Beth, and I’m a recent graduate from the University of Manchester. I’ve had a passion for tutoring for the past eight years, starting with piano and music theory, and for the last five years, expanding into academic tutoring — both online and in person.
Coming from a large family, I’ve always loved working with children and being part of their learning journey. Tutoring allows me to support students not only in their academic growth but also in their confidence and curiosity, which is what I enjoy most about the work.
As an academic tutor, I bring over five years of experience supporting students from ages 3 through to Year 11. I’ve successfully guided children through their 11+ and entrance exams, and have helped students achieve top grades, including Grade 9s, at GCSE level.
My tutoring approach is adaptable and student-centered, shaped by long-term work experience placements at two primary schools: one mainstream and one dedicated to children with complex learning needs. Through this experience, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of inclusive education and have completed additional training in:
• Speech development
• Basic sign language (BSL)
• Learning and teaching support
• Musical therapy
• Sensory-integrated learning
These skills allow me to tailor my teaching strategies to suit a wide range of learning styles and needs, making sure every student feels supported, confident, and engaged.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help students build strong academic foundations, but also to support their growth in confidence — both in the classroom and during exams. I believe that with the right guidance and encouragement, every student can thrive.
In addition to mainstream academic tutoring, I also work closely with homeschooling families. I support both curriculum-based learning and Montessori-inspired approaches, tailoring lessons to suit each child’s pace, interests, and educational needs. This flexibility allows me to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment, whether I’m working with a student one-on-one or as part of a broader homeschooling plan.
