Ben is excellent tutor, but it seems he is not the right tutor for my son.

Ben was very personable and got on well with my son. He was always on time and worked hard throughout the sessions. He explained the subject really well and helped my son on his run up to the Further Maths exam. I would recommend Ben as a tutor.

Ben helped our 19-yr old son with A-level maths and made the tough end of the papers easier, more digestible and Tom achieved an A*. Ben proved punctual, reliable, experienced in tackling different angles on questions and forecasting the sorts of papers and rigour that would be needed in the exam. We couldn't be more grateful,

Our son has Asperger's and was finding it difficult to keep up with his A level maths on moving to a 6th form college. Ben has been the perfect tutor for him and kind enough to travel to our home for lessons. His quiet, patient manner has really helped to build his confidence and consolidate his learning and our son really looks forward to his lessons. Grades at college have improved a lot already. Ben has a very flexible approach reviewing recent topics or getting ahead with future ones, depending on what our son requires. Ben is punctual and reliable and we are so pleased to have found him. Ben stepped in and helped our older boy Jamie with both his Further Maths A Level and also his Maths A Level. Ben made a huge difference both in terms of explaining the mathematics but also in terms of his support and general knowledge around the subject. Jamie was really so impressed by that, and found it very inspiring. Ben also provided written feedback after each session. Jamie got absolute top grades for both of his A Levels and is now moving on to study mathematics at university. We cannot recommend Ben enough, he was extremely approachable, very patient, had all the resources and was extremely good at explaining the subject.

Ben has been helping and supporting our daughter through the 2nd year of A Level maths. He has been incredibly flexible, coaching her through whatever topics she decides on the day and always amending his schedule to fit with hers: coming once a week, twice a week or not at all; teaching for 1 hour or 1.5 hours depending on what she needs on the day. He has improved her confidence in her ability. He is a little expensive, however we felt this was worthwhile for our daughter to feel supported in maths. Thank you Ben!

Ben is helping my son through his final year of A levels - Maths and Further Maths. My son really values the sessions and recently asked for more time with Ben. He feels that Ben gives him very actionable guidance that has a direct positive result on his understanding of the topics, and in tests. I am expecting a significant improvement in the schools grade prediction as a result of using Ben.

My daughter has only currently has two lessons with Ben, however her A level Math test results have really improved already. Ben explains the topics very well, making it easy to understand. Very happy with the choice!

With only one session with Ben so far, I can already tell he is a wonderful teacher, and very enthusiastic about maths. When I struggled or made a mistake, I wasn’t made to feel stupid or embarrassed, which is the whole reason I wanted to be tutored. He is fantastic. There will be plenty more session to come, hopefully!

Ben has been tutoring my son for an A level resit for a term and he has been excellent. Like many teenagers, my son usually replies to most questions with a monosyllabic grunt but when I ask him how his maths lessons are going, he is eloquent in his praise of Ben and his lessons. He has clearly benefited greatly from Ben's one to one tuition and is much happier and more confident. I cannot thank Ben enough and would thoroughly recommend Ben as a tutor.

Professional and helpful

Ben was helpful and gave my son confidence in his AS maths studies.

My daughter has had three tutorials with Ben and seems to be progressing well. He is organised and explains things clearly, using lots of examples. It is still early days but all the signs are very positive.

Ben listened carefully to my concerns so he could understand the areas that I needed help with before going over them in detail. I was given some past papers to ensure I understood the topic - a very effective method of working. I recommend this approach. Very helpful.

Ben has been very accommodating with the erratic nature of my son's other school commitments and fits in a weekly lesson whenever he can. My son feels much more confident with the particular parts of the subject that were worrying him and enjoys Ben's teaching. We are delighted so far with the help he has been given. Thank you Ben!

Very pleased - sessions are very much based on how to help my son for revision and looking at new topics in preparation for the new school year. My son is learning every time he goes and he will be going to Ben during the school term too.

Ben is a very good teacher and has helped me improve maths skills at degree level in very short time.

My daughter is really enjoying her lessons with Ben, he works according to the child's needs and is patient and covers all aspects of the topics, very happy.

Ben has been very good for my children (ages 13 and 15) even though they are quite different creatures. Both have benetitted from Ben's support. My son is especially enjoying the sessions which have rebuilt his confidence after a rocky start this academic year with a new maths teacher at school.

Ben seems to be patient and willing to work at their pace and to their needs and neither of the children have moaned about being tutored (something of a miracle as they moan about everything else!). I like that a little bit of homework is set as well (even if they don't always do it) as it sets an expectation.

Both children need a bit of gentle stretching which has happened and I am confrident will continue. Reinforcing what they are learning at school at the time seems like a good stategy as allows them to own up to weaknesses in a safe environment.

Neither child likes to feel put down (does any?) or a failure and I think Ben has managed the balance between correcting mistakes and encouraging them without getting too 'pally.'

The flexibility about the occasional day swap is also very useful. Coming to the house is a huge advantage.

I can see us using Ben's services for some considerable time as I think they benefit from the continued support.

Ben makes Maths fun! He is always happy to go through the things I do not understand until it all makes sense to me. He is very approachable and during easter I'm having 14 lessons with him in just two weeks time because I find his help vital. Because Ben is such a great tutor my sister started to have lessons with him as well. We both think that if you are looking for someone that will push you to your limits so you can give it your all Ben is the person you should call. :) :) :) thumbs up

Very helpful and flexible in reviewing my needs and working out a program to assist. Altohugh in the end I did not need Bens help for very long, in that time I found him to be everything I needed.

Ben was invaluable in helping our daughter study for a resit of University Foundation Degree level Further Maths, which required a few weeks of intensive revision. She passed; without Ben's assistance she would not have done so and would not have been able to continue her studies. Our thanks to Ben go hand in hand with our recommendation of his skills!

I am very happy to provide a positive reference for Mr . My wife and I employed him to assist our daughter with her retake of a statistics module which she failed in her first year at University.

Mr listened to her in order to define where the problems were and then constructed his work with her around difficult areas. Between tutorial sessions, he researched areas of the University syllabus he was not so familiar with and used this knowledge and materials such as previous examination papers to give our daughter the confidence she needed to achieve a pass mark.

Together with our daughter, he identified what she wanted to achieve and from this what she needed to do in order to achieve this.

Despite my daughter's difficulties with the subject, Mr agreed a target mark with her that would meet the need to pass the module so she could progress to her second year.

Mr set my daughter homework around her weaker areas and identified the areas she did not need to focus on so much. In this his technique was to assist her with what she wanted and needed rather than to define a standard she could not achieve. This assisted in raising her self confidence that she could pass the examination.

Mr was punctual and reliable and was very patient and thorough. He explained things in ways my daughter could understand and taught her examination techniques to use when she sat the examination.

We would recommend Mr as an excellent tutor and if we needed to, would unhesitatingly employ him again.

I should add that my daughter exceeded the target she and Mr set for her retake by more than 10% so she has now progressed to her second year.

Ben tutors my teenaged daughter for maths and further maths 'A' levels. He is a charming, affable person and extremely capable, always ensuring that he knows exactly in which areas my daughter needs help and tailoring the sessions accordingly. Ben is punctual, very professional in his manner and always prepared to 'go the extra mile' to give good value. An excellent tutor at this level.
