I'm a graduate of Civil Engineering and I have a Master in Business Administration, MBA (Project Management option). I also did PGCE (Mathematics) and have attained QTS i.e. Qualified Teachers Status. In addition, I possess a Masters degree in Mathematics Education and did a School Leadership course with National College for Schools and Leadership (NCSL). I would describe myself as a very friendly, patient and highly understanding person. Many of my students find me very easy to relate with because of my very good interpersonal relations skills. Considering my academic background and qualifications, I've got very solid subject knowledge and I'm also aware of areas where students normally have difficulties in the subject.
I have been privileged to have served in different capacities within schools in the UK; as Head of Maths, Curriculum Leader and Director of Numeracy. I'm currently teaching Maths in a school in Colchester, a place where I have been for about a decade. Before then, I had the opportunity of teaching in several other schools in London, Kent and Essex, ranging from Grammar School to Comprehensive School, and all these experiences have made me understand how to help different abilities of students fulfil their maximum potential. I have been involved in tutoring for over 20 years and I understand what students need to pass exams. In other words, I know what it takes to be successful when it comes to taking exams and passing. My aim is to help my students understand these key techniques so that they can achieve the best grades possible in Mathematics.
My calm approach to teaching is one of the reasons why many of my students would not want to loose me. I always try as much as possible to create a very conducive learning environment, where my student would feel focused, relaxed and secured. An environment where a student could ask any question without being shouted on or humiliated. Many people see Maths as a very boring subject, and that's why I decided to adopt a variety of methods to make the learning of the subject a lot more interesting; ranging from the use of interactive materials, internet resources, Maths games and puzzles, and so on.
