Tutoring Experience

In my most recent post I was the Deputy Head of an independent, international school in central London. My educational philosophy centres around developing principled, thoughtful young people. That said, when tutoring the focus is ultimately driven by the outcome of examination results, which are achievable and aspirational - enabling the student to progress onto the next stage of their life.

I have previously been a Head of Department (Economics) and a Head of Year. I have taught and tutored A Level Economics for many years, which includes teaching on a fast-track course, where students complete three A Levels in one year. I have also worked with students to complete A-level Economics because the subject was not offered by their school.I have experience working with all of the English examination boards, and have been an examiner for two. In my most recent examining post I was a member of the senior team.

Having worked in international education for over eight years, I am extremely adept to the needs of students where English is not their first language, and indeed, students of all abilities. My approach is always tailored to the needs of individuals.

I have worked with many high achievers, to support them in obtaining the very best grade possible. I have previously been responsible for the university applications of high achievers, including early applicants (Oxbridge, Medicine) and can also support students with their university application.

Tutoring Approach

Every student is different and therefore a significant amount of time in the first tutoring session is spent assessing the students position, setting objectives and then planning together as to how those objectives are to be achieved.
