With 16 years of experience teaching in a wide range of schools, I have developed a particular focus on helping students achieve significant progress in their academic journeys. My expertise lies in teaching Foundation and Higher Combined Science, with additional experience in delivering Triple Chemistry and Biology lessons. Throughout my career, I have worked with students of varying abilities, always striving to ensure they reach their full potential, regardless of where they start.
I trained in Australia and taught for 10 years before moving to Leeds and teaching a further 6 years. I have several degrees in education, including sciences and maths.
I find tutoring to be an incredibly rewarding career because it allows me to give students the individualised attention they need to truly thrive. In large classrooms, it’s often difficult for teachers to provide the time and patience required for each student. However, through personalised tutoring sessions, students can make meaningful progress. I’ve seen firsthand how just an hour of focused, one-to-one tutoring per week can turn mediocre grades into great ones, boosting both academic performance and confidence.
In every tutoring session, I focus on revisiting key concepts to reinforce understanding and build confidence. I help students make connections between topics for deeper, more holistic learning. We also spend time applying knowledge to exam-style questions, which is essential for success. A key part of my approach is identifying and addressing gaps in knowledge to ensure all students achieve their best. By tailoring my lessons to each individual, I ensure that they receive the support they need to succeed in GCSE Science.
