My name is Becky and I am an experienced tutor and graduate from the University of Nottingham, where I achieved a 2.1 in BSc Biology. Before this, I achieved 2 As and 3 Bs at A Level and 9 A*s and 3 As at GCSE level.
I am currently working as a maths tutor at Birmingham City Football Club, where I am responsible for supporting students through their GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications. Outside of work I love to snowboard, rock climb and generally have as much fun as possible!
I have held a range of tutoring and mentoring positions for the past 16 years. Last academic year I tutored a number of students, all of whom worked extremely well to exceed or achieve their desired grades.
Back in sixth form I was a maths tutor for several students up to GCSE level. The following year I was then selected to lead the school's peer mentoring team. This involved the organisation of wide ranging academic and pastoral support to students in years 7-11.Whilst at university I was involved in a similar scheme to provide subject specific help and advice to students within the biology department.
Having been to a selective secondary school, I also have first hand experience of the challenges of an entrance exam. I found my tutoring sessions to be extremely helpful in allowing me to deal with the daunting prospect of the upcoming exam. I am now keen to support others with this through my role as a tutor.
I hold an enhanced DBS check.
I believe tutoring is all about providing that little bit of extra help and practice to develop a student's confidence in their own abilities. Even a small amount of one to one support each week can provide a totally different learning environment to a school, helping to accelerate progress.
My approach is very much specific to the individual and will be flexible to accommodate each different exam syllabus as well as a student's learning style and expectations. I am a dedicated and approachable person and will be responsive to the needs of each student and parent.
I offer group tutoring sessions for students with similar goals, with discounts for 2nd and 3rd students available.
