Hi. I am a primary school teacher and I have worked in primary schools for over 10 years (8 years as a teacher) Currently, I am training to be a deaf teacher and balance this alongside teaching. In addition to this, I have been tutoring for the past 6 years.

Tutoring Experience

As a teacher, I have taught all phases at the Primary level (EYFS, KS1 and KS2). I am experienced in formal examinations including SATS KS1 and KS2, Year 4 MTC and the Phonics Screening Check. I have taught children with English as an additional language, children who are new to English, children with special needs including but not limited to dyslexia, autism, adhd and deafness.

As a tutor, I have experience in readying children for grammar school entrance exams where they have all been successful in attaining a place.

Tutoring Approach

I have a solid understanding of the National Curriculum, which is my base for lessons. My lesson approach includes modelling, discussions, guided practice and then independent tasks. I carry out assessments throughout the lessons to check the child is keeping up with the learning. Engagement is key, so I ensure activities match the child’s age and ability as well as ensuring children are given challenges to deepen their understanding.
