I am a qualified teacher, with a secondary PGCE in Music from the University of Reading. Prior to this, I studied Music at the University of Surrey. I have performed as a soloist and play regularly for a variety of different ensembles in Surrey. I am an active composer and arranger of music for a variety of contexts.
I have taught Music and Music Technology for 10 years, and am Head of Music at a secondary school, teaching GCSE Music. Prior to this, was responsible for delivery of A-level and BTEC Music Technology at a Sixth Form College. I am a practising examiner for Pearson. All of this experience enables me to tailor tutoring according to student needs.
My specialist areas are analysis, music theory, multi-track recording, sequencing, synthesis, sampling, composing, arranging and performing. I also have expertise in teaching Arts Music, Popular Music Styles and The Development Of Music Technology.
I listen to tutees, tailoring my practice according to their particular circumstances. I then establish a set of principles for learning in order that they can improve their approach to academic study. This gives them the confidence to take the lead, where I act as a facilitator; prompting thought and providing constructive feedback.
