My name is Anya and I am a qualified primary school teacher. I specialise in Phonics and Lower Primary (EYFS and KS1) but also teach several KS2 pupils in English, Maths, Science and Spanish. I have gained excellent results with all of my pupils and always ensure that progression is made each lesson. I have gained experience in various local primary schools as well as building up my private tuition portfolio. I closely follow the National Curriculum or Development Matters and always ensure that my teaching offers challenges that your child can access and thereby allow them to stretch their learning potential.
I worked in Human Resource Management for approximately 12 years before deciding to change career to teaching ten years ago. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Every day is so different and offers new challenges and rewards.
I am a mature Primary School teacher, having worked in the private sector for many years, and bring a wealth of training and people experience and more importantly, a sensible and pragmatic approach. I feel it very important to keep you, as a parent, updated and involved in your child's learning journey. I am also always happy to answer your general questions and give you support with website links, apps etc.
I thoroughly enjoy working with young children in small groups (max 2 children) or in one-to-one arrangements. I am friendly, fun, patient and sensitive to each child's needs and enjoy supporting them to be the best they can possibly be. I don't believe in placing barriers or labels on children, I believe we are all capable of reaching the stars and I have helped many children do just that. Phonics is a particular area of interest and strength but I would be happy to discuss with you your child's requirements whether that be reading, numeracy, writing, literacy etc. I am also able to teach basic level Spanish to primary age children.
I am able to prepare your child for the Entrance Exams and currently support children in the 11+ from age 7 upwards.
My lesssons are always tailored to the child's needs and interests. We all learn in different ways so it is important that I plan the lessons to reflect the unique requirements of each child. I find that children learn best when they are 'doing' and can relate to the subjects so we may have 'Pokemon' or 'Shopkins' in our subjects or we may be using socks and a washing line to help with double numbers and sequences! Your child will have fun and learn at the same time.
I am happy to continue teaching your child when it is half term or the summer holidays. I don't tend to stick to term time learning unless that works for you.
