I am a fully qualified maths teacher. I am Solihull based and I specialise in KS3 and KS4, including all GCSE Maths and Further/Additional Maths. I am a friendly, calm and approachable person who is really passionate about my subject and my vocation.

Tutoring Experience

I teach full time at an outstanding secondary academy. I have experience teaching all secondary year groups up to Year 11 (higher), and have taught students of all levels of ability in maths.
Prior to this, I have years of experience of TEFL teaching overseas, including extensive 1-to-1 tutoring of both children and adults.

Tutoring Approach

My focus is on teaching for mastery. This approach aims to give students a deep understanding of the subject by using subtle variations in questions and asking students to think about what is the same, and what has changed. I emphasise the use of the correct mathematical terminology and encourage students to describe what they are doing and justify why they are doing it. I believe in the power of visual representations (bar models, multiplicative arrays) to reveal structure and of interleaving different topics to help students build connections between them.
