After a PhD in Materials Modelling and an academic career of 5 years as Postdoctoral Research Assistant at UCL, I have studied a MSc in Science Communication. I have a great passion for Science and its applications, especially in the areas of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Since my PhD studies I have been tutoring one-to-one Undergraduate, A Level, GCSE and KS3 students in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. I have also worked as Reporter for a journal on Industrial Minerals and as Assistant Instructional Designer for the National Phyisical Laboratory. Since 2016, I have focused my career on Science education in secondary schools and with educational consultant institutions. I enjoy very much working with young students and communicating my passion for science and mathematics, while supporting them in developing their independent learning skills.

I want the student to get involved as much as possible in the learning process, so that I alternate my explanations with exam-focused tasks, including past paper questions and additional questions. The type of questions include MCQs, problem solving questions as well as explanatory questions (the 4-6 mark questions) in Science topics. In my explanations, I tend to use visual material, including drawings and computer simulations. I also make extensive use of analogies to help the student visualise the concept. I also provide additional educational material and set brief homework tasks to further stimulate independent learning.
