I hold a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree, an MSc and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds. With my expertise and knowledge of mainstream science curriculums, I am well-equipped to guide students towards their academic goals. I have a deep passion for science and a strong academic background. My goal is to empower students with the knowledge, confidence, and enthusiasm necessary to achieve their academic goals.
I understand the demands and expectations placed upon young people, and provide targeted support, helping them understand complex concepts, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and achieve exceptional academic results.
In my spare time I chair a youth-group charity in Leeds, and have experience working with neurodiverse young people who face barriers to learning. I am a confident. driven and friendly person who can form bonds with young people. I believe an enjoyment of learning is really key to success, and hope to be a mentor and positive role model alongside a teacher.
I am a doctoral research fellow at the University of Leeds with 8 years of experience in biochemistry/molecular biology research. Over this time I have run weekly youth groups in Leeds, running leadership and mentoring sessions.
I have taught at undergraduate level for many years, helping students to understand complex ideas and preparing for exams. In this time i have also run peer support groups for undergraduate students to prepare them for exams.
Throughout my time as an online tutor I have honed my skills in delivering engaging and effective virtual lessons. I have successfully guided students towards achieving their academic goals and fostering a deep understanding of complex scientific concepts. I believe in the power of personalised learning experiences. By assessing the strengths and areas for improvement of each student, I tailor my teaching methods and resources to match their unique learning style.
I provide learning resources, past-papers, and marking of these out-of-hours included in hourly session rate.
Confidence and enthusiasm for learning is key to success and high grades. I feel supporting young people in getting motivated for their future through studying is one of the most vital aspects of learning. I am a confident and driven person who tailors learning to the student’s needs and ensures a comfortable and open learning environment to nurture a passion for science or mathematics.
I employ customised teaching strategies, individualised pacing, and a nurturing approach to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. By adapting to their unique learning styles, I help students overcome challenges, build self-esteem, and reach their full potential.
I am passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and improving student outcomes for all. Through my work in local youth groups I understand the different needs of young people from diverse backgrounds and tailor my sessions to them.
