My name is Anne, and I am a Financial Mathematics graduate from King's College London, aspiring to teach mathematics at the secondary school and GCSE levels. As an analytical-minded individual who enjoys problem-solving, I thrive in a structured environment while being flexible and adapting to change. Having achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics and a grade A at A-Level, I am eager to meaningfully contribute to and support students' lives with their school education.
During my bachelor's degree, studying Financial Mathematics at Brunel University, I worked as a part-time assistant tutor at First Class Learning Uxbridge. For two hours a week, I facilitated five to six students simultaneously. I taught pupils different methods of problem-solving and encouraged them to think creatively. This role included coordinating schedules, handing out homework sheets, and organising and dedicating my time equally to each student.
I believe that teaching live, whether it is face-to-face or online tutoring, is more beneficial than simply listening to a recorded lecture. I would also get to know my student, including their strengths and weaknesses, and adapt my teaching methods to best accommodate them. I will usually give a lesson while actively engaging with the students to ensure they understand. I will then hand out questions to be answered before the next lesson so that students can consolidate their learning. In addition to questions, I will also plan review sessions to summarise topics I have taught at the end. I like to keep a lesson plan for each student, but I can also be flexible and change my lesson structure according to what the student wants.
