I am a passionate primary school educator with over 20 years' experience of working with children and young people in a wide range of settings across three continents.
I am a proud husband and father to a beautiful daughter; love music and cricket equally and enjoy making tech actually work in education! Occasional amateur dramatist!
I first started class teaching in 2006 and enjoyed my first ten years in two schools in Cumbria's Lake District. I have since taught in Malawi at two large international primary schools, where I have taken on significant senior leadership roles and supported new teachers find their style!
Before that I was a US summer camp counsellor for a camp specialising in neurodiversity.
Learning starts with you - the student. Finding out your strengths, where you need to improve and how you want to do will be our first steps forward.
I am a coach and use a coaching approach to my teaching. That means, rather than explaining everything to you, I use questions to help you get to the answer yourself and lightly guide you along the way when needed!
I like to use online platforms to enable you to engage with content directly, quickly and interactively and I can give you feedback right away about your performance.
More than anything else, though, I'm supportive. I know what 'not understanding' can feel like and the many reasons there could be for finding something hard.
With me you won't feel 'on your own' until you're ready for it. I will expect the best of you, because I want you to expect the best for yourself. If you bring your best effort, I will back and believe in you and what you can achieve.
