Hi, I'm Andrew. I'm a second year student at the University of Edinburgh. I'm doing a joint Maths and Music BSc. Even though uni life hasn't been ideal because of covid, I'm really enjoying the beginning of my course.
Outside of academia, I enjoy sound recording and writing songs. I also fence and I cycle.
I'm fully aware that the quality of a teacher can make or break the students learning experience. I hope that I can teach in a way that will help you enjoy and engage with the subject.
N.B. I got my A Level results in August 2020 (A*A*A). As of yet I don't have my certificates, but I have a document from my school confirming my results. The website won't approve this document, so if you want to see it I can show you
My first experience of teaching wasin the RAF cadets teaching the younger cadet syllabus content.
I have also captained two sports at school. In this role I was responsible for coaching the sport to other members of the clubs. Now I work as a coach for one of these sports
More recently, I took on some tutee doing A level and GCSE maths from the beginning of October 2020. As of now, I have around 650 hours of tutoring experience
My lessons will have 2 parts. The first part will be spent going through corrections from work I set you in the previous session. I will try to help you understand where the mistakes were made, and how not to make the mistakes again. The other part of the lesson will be used to create a deep understanding of the topic that we're doing. This will be through a combination of me explaining concepts, and us working through examples. As the exam approaches, this will change a bit. Instead of setting questions by topic, I will be setting past papers, and we will use the time in lessons to go through any problems you have with those, and to revise weaker topics.
