Andy has been tutoring my daughter for the past year in the run up to her GCSE. He is always punctual and flexible with regards to lesson timings. My daughter has found Andy a great help with his patience and ability to explain tricky subjects. We would definitely recommend Andy.

Excellent teacher, very thorough knowledge of subject

Andy is an excellent tutor! He taught my son Oscar for GCSE maths and explained things exceptionally well. Oscar loved his lessons too.

My daughter has attended after school tutoring from Andrew this year. The lessons have definitely made her more confident and calmer at approaching maths questions - exactly what we were looking for! Very reliable and approachable.

My son (year 11) had online lessons with Andrew for 3 months to give his maths studies a boost due to the effects of lockdown. Andrew was always punctual and reliable, and happy to be flexible in rearranging some lessons. Andrew was agreeable in covering a wide range of topics and my son made great progress.

My daughter has had 3 tutoring sessions with Andy to date. He is very personable and my daughter feels relaxed working with him. He is helping her prepare for her IGCSE maths next summer. Andy always sends a message prior to the session with material for Amelie to work on including past papers. He utilities time well to ensure the sessions are as productive as possible and has been able to help her with areas she feels she needs to gain more confidence in. I am keen for her to continue with the tutoring as she is finding it very beneficial. Thank you Andy.

a great mathematics tutor who is calm and reassuring

My daughter is comfortable with his coaching style which is always a good start. She is extremely pleased that she is now ahead of her topics and is bracing her lessons with more confidence. We’ve had two lessons with Andrew and are looking at remaining under his tutelage till her ‘A’ levels.

Andy has been a patient and conscientious tutor for my daughter over the past six months and has given her more confidence and improved her grade. He has also been flexible in his approach when needing to change evenings/timings. I would recommend him to anyone.

Having chosen to use additional tutoring to assist my children at various points during their education I understand how challenging it is to find an appropriate tutor for your child’s requirements.

I was recommended FirstTutors and settled on Andy after a few email exchanges. I’m so glad I did. Andy’s ability to adapt to an individual child’s abilities and needs is remarkable. In my daughter's case, who is 15, and approaching her GCSE’s she had lost confidence, was struggling with most (aspects/topics) of maths and was failing to grasp exam technique.

Andy very quickly built a working relationship with my daughter and developed an approach which suited my daughter's abilities. As a result her confidence has completely returned, her understanding of the Maths (aspects/topics) has been amazing to watch and incredibly Andy has taught her to enjoy the subject of Maths. I have every confidence my daughter will achieve very high exam results because of the tutoring she has received, for which I thank Andy entirely.

Finally, having been let down in the past I’d like to mention what a pleasure it is to work with a professional teacher who understands the importance of arrangements made and time keeping. If you’re looking to better every aspect of your child’s Maths skills and put a smile on their face at the same time I would recommend him.

Andy's calm and considered approach to his subject area meant that he quickly gained our confidence and trust. He engaged easily with our daughter, answering her questions and allowing her to determine the areas that they would focus on each week. He has built up her confidence and focused her on what she needs to learn for the exams. Andy is reliable, punctual and more importantly committed. He's an excellent tutor.

Andy is always courteous and on time. He has used a defined plan for tutoring my daughter to ensure that he covers all parts of the syllabus she has studied so far. This is extremely helpful and allows her to consolidate and revise so that she can come up to the required standard.

Very pleased with Andrew, my son seems to work well with him and we have seen an improvement in his maths work. His end of year school maths exam result was good.We hope to continue to have Andrew in the new school term as we believe he has been a great help.
