I am a friendly, enthusiastic Maths tutor with over ten years teaching experience at a large, successful high school. I have a calm and personable nature and take great satisfaction in helping people. Outside of teaching, my passions are surfing, sports and spending time with my young family.
Tutoring Experience
Before moving into full time tuition, I worked at a large comprehensive school in the UK, teaching Maths to all ages and abilities from years 7-13. I taught many GCSE and A Level exam classes, delivering intervention and revision sessions to provide extra support. As such, I have a good working knowledge of the current Maths GCSE and A Level specifications. During my teaching career, I also held numerous positions of responsibility, including Whole School Numeracy Coordinator and Maths Curriculum Strategist. I always enjoyed good relationships with my classes and colleagues alike.
Tutoring Approach
I've tutored over 100 students from a wide range of backgrounds and school experiences. I believe I have a good understanding of what makes tutoring a positive experience for those involved. My philosophy is to develop a strong rapport with my tutees, creating an environment where it's OK to make mistakes, with misconceptions being discussed and addressed openly. I look to use engaging and interactive resources throughout my sessions, encouraging perseverance and resilience throughout. I offer both small group and one to one tuition. Sessions are tailored to the needs of the student, ensuring that the best possible progress can be made. My aim is to facilitate students in becoming more confident, independent learners and ultimately achieve their academic goals.
