An English Literature MA graduate from UCL, with years of tutoring experience. I love to pass on my passion for literature, writing, and the power of the imagination.
Having been a voracious reader and keen student of literature from a young age, I love inspiring others with the same passion that has been so rewarding and formative in my own life. In 2015 I graduated with Merit from my English Literature MA at University College London, where I specialised in Shakespeare. In the years since then I have harnessed this knowledge and experience in my work as a specialist English tutor and teacher, covering academic levels ranging from secondary school all the way up to dissertation guidance for postgraduate students at university.
I was tutored at home for my own GCSEs, as I struggled with chronic fatigue syndrome throughout my school years. I therefore have first-hand experience of how transformative tuition can be, and have carried this empathy and perspective forward into my own tutoring practice.
My tutoring experience began in 2015, when I worked at a secondary grammar school as a Learning Support Teacher, helping students with special educational needs in both one-to-one and small group sessions. English Literature and Language was my main focus here, alongside a more general development of literacy skills.
In 2016 I made the transition into professional tutoring, and since then I have had the continual privilege of seeing the transformative impact that patient, individualised tuition can have on students’ confidence and subsequent achievements.
I like to be creative, caring, and approachable in my tutoring, while always aiming to foster a high level of academic attainment. My approach is uniquely tailored to each student, creating a calm learning environment that allows a true love of the academic subject to blossom.
English Language and English Literature are my specialist subjects, but I have also helped students improve their study skills and powers of written expression in general.
For an engaging and collaborative learning experience, I use a powerful virtual whiteboard for my online lessons. I spend hours carefully preparing for each session, and also compile monthly progress reports for each of my students.
