Hello. My name is Andrea and I am currently working as Head of Languages at a secondary school in Nottinghamshire. I completed my BA Joint Honours degree in French and Russian in 2011, as well as a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages in 2012, followed by a MA in Education in 2014, all at the University of Nottingham. I am native English but also speak French, Russian, Spanish, as well as Serbian / Croatian.
I have taught in four different UK secondary schools teaching French, Spanish and Russian. I have six years of teaching experience, including teaching English as a foreign language to French students at a secondary school in the suburbs of Paris in 2010. After graduating from my BA Joint Honours degree, I completed my PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages and completed two successful teaching placements at Lincolnshire schools in 2012, before being appointed as an NQT at a Nottinghamshire school. There, I was appointed Assistant Head of Modern Foreign Languages in 2013 and then became the Gifted and Talented Languages Coordinator. At the same time, I completed my MA in Education part-time at the University of Nottingham and graduated in 2014. After which, I moved to a new school becoming Head of Languages in 2015 and became Achievement Coordinator for years 9 and 10 in 2016.
My GCSE pass rate is 100%.
At my current secondary school, I introduced Russian as a lunch time club and then an enrichment option, which lead to one student requesting private tuition to GCSE level. After coaching the student for just 9 months, he then obtained a GCSE Grade A in Russian. This then lead to two more students requesting to study Russian for a further GCSE qualification.
I have experience teaching languages in full classes, small groups and individually on a one-to-one basis.
I am able to teach French, Russian, Spanish, Serbian/Croatian from beginners level to GCSE level. Please ask for further information.
My style of teaching is flexible, interactive, engaging and meets all individual needs and expectations. I will structure my lessons to meet exam specifications to ensure best results. I will adapt my teaching for your own personal needs and expectations. This may include learning the language for qualifications or simply to use when going on holiday. I prefer to tutor in my own home.
