Online Maths and English Lessons

Hi!

My name is Amy, and I am a third-year Spanish student at the University of Oxford. Outside of my love for languages, I have a passion for film and music, and also play hockey. I have significant tutoring experience, having even taught English as a foreign language as well as tutoring for UK exams, including GCSE and A-level.

I have a wide variety of exam qualifications, including 10 A*at GCSE as well as an A* with distinction in Level 2 Further Maths. I also achieved two As in Maths and Politics A-levels as well as a Distinction in Spanish Pre-U and full marks in my EPQ. I understand therefore, how difficult and stressful exams can be, and so I am here to make this as easy as possible.

Not only this, but I am also very well-equipped to help with any queries to do with the Oxbridge entrance process, myself coming from an area with a comparatively low progression to higher education. I would also be more than willing to give practice interviews in this respect.

I look forward to hearing from you :))

Tutoring Experience

I have around three years' tutoring experience both in person and online. I have taught English as a Foreign language for a variety of examinations. I have also extensively taught Spanish at GCSE, A-level and adult learner levels. I also have received extremely positive results teaching English and Maths at GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach

I have always been extremely proactive with my learning and would love to help people do the same. I believe in order to reach goals it is also vital to be passionate about what you are doing, and so I specialise my lessons by taking each individual student's interests and weaving them into what I tutor. For example, language learning through appreciation of film and music from that culture can be an exciting and interesting tool for learning that so often goes neglected.

I feel it is so important to set smaller, achievable goals and measure success not in terms of competition, but also based off how the student has improved over the time I have worked with them. In this way, I heavily base my lessons on what exactly it is the student needs from me and reassess after each individual lesson.

For example, I remember when taking my own Spanish GCSE, the hardest part was always speaking, as schools often are unable to offer this to a large extent, and so I would be particularly keen on ensuring confidence in the language is as high as possible! I also pride myself in a central focus on grammar, which provides the key foundation on which a language is learnt. No two lessons with me will be the same!
