Hi, I'm Amran! I am currently a PhD student, finishing my doctorate research in the field of Mechanical Engineering, as well as a part time tutor. I have a strong educational background (A*, A, A in A-level Maths, Physics and Chemistry respectively), having graduated with a first-class honours degree in Chemistry from UCL.
In my spare time I enjoy coding.
With an extensive four-year experience in tutoring, I have developed a commitment to nurturing student achievement. Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege to impart knowledge to a diverse cohort, spanning from Key Stage 1 to A-level. Presently, I have directed my focus towards exclusive tutoring at the GSCE and A-level tiers, with an emphasis on Mathematics and Chemistry disciplines. However, I do still offer KS1 and KS2 primary tuition, as well as 11+.
My instructional approach is underpinned by qualities of patience and empathy, fundamental attributes that enable me to foster a conducive learning environment. In pursuit of facilitating comprehensive understanding, I am steadfast in my efforts to explain intricate concepts and subjects in ways that are easily understandable to the students. Furthermore, my adaptability is underscored by the capacity to cater to individuals across a spectrum of ages and proficiency levels, tailoring my methodologies to resonate with each unique learner!
This involves first evaluating the student's current knowledge of the subject and identifying any areas of weakness.
A typical session encompasses a combination of the following elements:
i. Recapping/ teaching material the student is struggling with
ii. Topic specific exam style questions
- Going over multiple similar questions for particularly challenging questions
iii. Exam prep/ going over past papers
Central to my educational ethos is the desire to help every student towards their academic potential. Through a personalized and dedicated approach, I aspire to be able to contribute to the scholarly journey of each individual student.
