Hello,
My name is Amit. I am a Leeds-based tutor. I have worked as a Research Associate at the Imperial College London and the University of Leeds. I have completed my PhD degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics and a master's degree in Biotechnology. My studies covered the following topics at the master level: Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemical Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Structural Biology. Being at various Universities, I presented my research work at national/international conferences and published in many internationally renowned journals written on my subjects.
My skills involve tutoring A-level and University Biology and Chemistry, including assisting undergraduate (BSc), Master’s (MSc), and Ph.D. students. I have more than 15 years of teaching experience. I practice Biochemistry and Biophysics daily, I can teach the above-mentioned topics (A-level to Master). Besides teaching, I have trained more than 20 bachelor and master students (as co-guide) and helped them with general academic skills development such as writing research methods, and dissertations, preparing thesis viva-voce examinations (expected questions and their answers, etc.).
You may wish to contact me if you are struggling to understand the classroom lectures, especially while online/e-learning.
My key goal is to build confidence in my tutee. I will build a relaxing and friendly environment. Being in teaching for a long (>15 years) time, I understand the student’s basic problems and gaps in subject knowledge. I shall make sure the students understand the basic concept of the subject and build a strong foundation relevant to the subject being studied. I use a combination of question-answer sessions and often ask students to repeat in their words for a better understanding of a subject.
I usually carry my teaching materials and/or textbook along with me. I draw lots of diagrams and explain based on them as ‘pictures with a voice’ have the biggest impact on the brain. I often ask students to start on a topic that gives them an opportunity to understand their subject weakness.
