I am Amelia, a musician and teacher with more than 9 years of. I started my musical journey at the age of 7, and the rest as they say, is history!
I have pursued my interest in Classical Flute at Leeds Conservatoire and completed my PGCE in Secondary Music Education and Instrumental Specialist Training with a woodwind focus at The Royal Northern College of Music. As Portfolio Musician, I have had the privilege of participating in some incredible performance opportunities such as being principal flautist for the Northern Cotemporary Collective, conductor of 'Sounds Like This International Festival' and prinical flautist for BBC Love in Leeds.
I qualified as a classroom teacher in 2020 from RNCM, gaining the title ‘Instrumental Specialist Teacher of the Year’. Since then I have worked in several schools including in the North West, and abroad. I teach GCSE (RSL, Edexcel, AQA and OCR) as well as A-Level (AQA). My specialities are composition (including Bach chorales), performance and the written examination.
All of my students over the past 3 years have received a grade A, and many going on to study at conservatoires.
No two students learn the same way, so I consider myself a 'whatever works' teacher. You can be at a Grade 8 standard and still struggle with the demands of theory-based exams, which require a completely different set of skills. My students often say I'm full of 'crazy techniques that actually work,' and I take pride in finding creative methods that help each individual succeed.
