I have been an Outstanding Primary Mathematics and English teacher with 30 years of teaching experience. I just retired at the end of academic year July 2019. I have recently moved from South West to Surrey.
I have a great passion for teaching and learning. I love to see children succeed .
I like taking challenges and take each individual pupil as a challenge to guarantee the success.

Tutoring Experience

30 years of teaching experience as a class teacher in 3 of the Outstanding schools in South West UK. I have taught children of both Infant and Junior school ages of all abilities. I have supported special needs children to excel and gain confidence for number of years. I have been head of maths; head of year and as a maths specialist trainer for newly qualified teachers and Learning support assistants. I have also been a SATs marker for year 6 SATs over a number of years. Currently tutoring pupils f ages 5 to 11 in both maths and English.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach is very much child centred. I assess and coach each child according to his/her specific needs. With my extensive teaching experience, I have the ability to assess and teach children with diverse needs and provide targeted support so that they succeed in their key stage 1 and key stage 2 SATs.
I have a good grasp of current National curriculum - therefore I can work specifically on the key objectives where the child needs the most support. I am well trained in asking the questions which help pupils to think critically and apply the skills they have learnt previously. I make use of ICT in my teaching which helps consolidate the learning. I am friendly and adopt my teaching approaches so that the child I am tutoring feels confident and happy with the progress which he/she has mad. I firmly believe in giving children the confidence in their own ability so that they get sense of achievement.
Finally I work alongside the school and parents. My informal and formal assessments ensure that all pupils are making excellent progress in their leaning.
